Get a good night’s sleep
Make sure you are well-rested. Being tired can increase sensitivity to pain and make it harder to sit still during your session.
Eat before your session
Do not come on an empty stomach. Eating beforehand helps maintain energy levels and reduces the risk of dizziness.
Stay hydrated
Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your session. Well-hydrated skin takes ink better and heals more easily.
Avoid alcohol, drugs, excess caffeine, and painkillers
Alcohol, recreational drugs, excess caffeine, and certain painkillers (such as aspirin or ibuprofen) can thin your blood. This may increase bleeding during tattooing and affect the healing process.
Wear comfortable clothing
Choose clothes that allow easy access to the area being tattooed and won’t restrict your movement.
Prepare your skin
Avoid tanning immediately before your session. Do not use harsh exfoliants or chemical treatments on the area to be tattooed. Arrive with clean, moisturized skin if possible.
Bring a positive attitude
Tattoo sessions can be long and require patience. Staying positive helps the process go smoothly and makes the experience more enjoyable.
Plan your post-tattoo time
Your skin may be red and sensitive after the session. Plan time to rest and avoid intense physical activity immediately afterward.
Leave the SecondSkin on
Keep the SecondSkin on for 24 - 48 hours, depending on your artist’s recommendation. It acts as a protective barrier and helps with faster healing.
Cleaning your tattoo
After removing the SecondSkin, wash your tattoo gently every 3 hours for the first day. Use lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry gently with a clean paper towel or soft cloth.
Apply ointment
After washing, apply a thin layer of Bepanthen or another tattoo-specific healing ointment. Do not over-apply - just enough to lightly cover the tattoo. Important: Continue this routine for two weeks to ensure proper healing.
What should I avoid?
Avoid direct sunlight, swimming pools, the sea, and hot tubs for at least 2 weeks. Do not go to the gym or do intense workouts or activities that cause heavy sweating during this time. Excess sweat or friction can cause irritation, infection, and affect healing.
Itching during healing
It is normal for the tattoo to feel itchy while healing. Do not scratch, pick, or rub the tattoo, as this can damage the skin and affect the final result.
Ongoing care
Wear loose clothing to prevent rubbing. Keep the tattoo moisturized with Bepanthen or a tattoo-specific healing ointment until fully healed.
Leave the cling film on
Keep your tattoo covered with cling film for 24 - 48 hours, depending on your artist’s recommendation. During this period, replace the cling film every 3 hours to keep the tattoo clean and protected.
Cleaning your tattoo
Each time you remove the cling film, wash your tattoo gently with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel or soft cloth. Repeat this process every 3 hours together with the cling film changes.
Apply ointment
After each wash, apply a thin layer of Bepanthen or another tattoo-specific healing ointment. Do not over-apply - just enough to lightly cover the tattoo. Important: Continue this routine for two weeks to ensure proper healing.
